While a conventional face-lift remains the most complete and dramatic way to achieve younger, tighter skin for your face, it’s a complex surgery requiring substantial time for recovery. In addition, it can leave scars that, while typically out of the way and unseen, may prevent you from wearing certain hairstyles that expose these necessary lines.
And since a face-lift is a significant surgery, many people who desire a more youthful appearance may not feel they’re candidates yet for such an extensive procedure. There are plenty of treatments and alternatives that can provide limited benefits, but you may fall into a gap between the results you can get from non-surgical “faux” lift techniques and a complete conventional face-lift.
It’s into this gap that a surgical procedure called LiteLift® falls, addressing some of the steps used in a conventional face-lift, but targeting those who don’t yet need a complete face-lift procedure.
The principles behind LiteLift
The skin of your face includes a layer of support tissue called the superficial muscular aponeurotic system, or SMAS for short. It’s a thin layer of strong tissue upon which your outer skin rests, while covering deeper tissue such as muscles and fat pads.
The SMAS layer is often tightened as a part of traditional face-lifts, which also makes changes to the deeper tissue. But changes to just the SMAS layer can provide substantial improvements to the overall support and tightness of your skin without the long incisions and deep undermining of the skin layer needed with more conventional face-lift surgery.
This results in many benefits consistent with more complex procedures, but with less scarring from surgical incisions.
The benefits of LiteLift
The limited number of incisions is just the start. These incisions have a high chance of healing invisibly, a less likely outcome than the incisions for a conventional face-lift. This means you need fewer adjustments to hide signs of your LiteLift procedure.
Also, tightening the SMAS layer leaves muscle tissue minimally disturbed. It’s often incisions to muscle tissue that cause long recovery times after surgeries, and a reason why minimally invasive techniques are typically used when possible as an alternative to open surgery. LiteLift qualifies as a minimally invasive face-lift surgery.
